The author draws on his passion for the work of Marisa Monte and over 30 years of classroom experience working with language, literature, and the arts to emphasize the importance of standard language in the process of composition, reading, and interpreting meaning. Presented in outline, the song titles are set in the same typeface used for the book’s title and the author’s name.
